Business Explorer 7.10

Business Explorer (BEx) by SAP AG is a suite of reporting and analytics tools designed for SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse (SAP BW). It enables business users and analysts to create, run, and share interactive queries, reports, and dashboards directly on BW data, with tight integration to Microsoft Excel and web-based interfaces. BEx supports ad hoc and multidimensional (OLAP) analysis, helping organizations explore trends, drill into details, and distribute insights across the enterprise.

Key features:

• BEx Analyzer: An Excel-based add-in for building and interacting with BW-driven reports using familiar spreadsheet functions.
• BEx Query Designer: A model-driven tool to define queries on BW InfoProviders, including variables, filters, key figures, conditions, and exceptions.
• BEx Web and Web Application Designer: Web-based analysis and the ability to assemble custom analytical applications and dashboards.
• BEx Broadcaster: Scheduling and distribution of reports and precalculated views via email, portal, or shared directories.
• OLAP capabilities: Drill-down, slice-and-dice, hierarchies, prompts, and reusable views for consistent, repeatable analysis.
• Security and governance: Role-based access and data authorization aligned with BW’s security model.

BEx is commonly used in SAP BW landscapes from classic NetWeaver releases and remains supported in many environments. While newer front ends like SAP BusinessObjects and SAP Analytics Cloud are often recommended for modern use cases, BEx continues to provide a reliable, Excel-friendly option for operational reporting and analysis on SAP BW data.
